Lynn Ashton, CCS, CCS-P, CCDS, is the Coordinator of ICD-10 Services and responsible for all ICD-10 activities internally for our internal clinical coding analysts and specialty physician task force, as well as our clients. She has been immersed in ICD-10-CM/PCS for the past two years during which time she was a Project Manager tasked with coding 45,000+ hospital inpatient and outpatient records in ICD-10. Her team of 20 coding professionals was instrumental in assisting a large national vendor with its computer-assisted coding program for ICD-10-CM and PCS.
As a Subject Matter Expert in ICD-10-CM/PCS, she has authored many ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS lessons as well as CDI lessons for a large healthcare training and education company. Prior to that, Lynn was a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist and an inpatient coder for an acute care hospital in Tennessee. She was responsible for concurrent coding, auditing, query analysis, case-mix index analysis, MS-DRG analysis, and ICD-10 planning. She has presented numerous workshops and seminars on coding, documentation, and MS-DRG education for medical staff, physicians, case managers, and coders.
Lynn is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and a member of the Association for Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS). She is also an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer and is a member of the AHIMA ICD-10 Ambassador Program.
She holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Practice Management from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
