Dr. Fee is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and maintains a clinical practice in hospital medicine. He is a graduate of Tulane Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Fee has extensive experience in hospital based medicine, DRG management and clinical documentation improvement (CDI). He has been actively involved in operations and process development of CDI programs across the country, including ground level training of physician advisors, coders, and clinical documentation improvement specialists. He works closely with clients regarding value based reimbursement models including risk adjustment and quality measure reviews in both the inpatient and ambulatory settings. He also works with physicians in understanding the impact of documentation on CPT (E/M) assignment.
Dr. Fee has also provided local, state, and national presentations including CHIA, NCHIMA, LHIMA, ACDIS, AHIMA, American Association of Physician Leadership coupled with many hours of direct physician, CDS, and coder education. He has authored articles for ACDIS, ICD-10 Monitor, Journal of AHIMA, and Advance Executive Insight targeting physician integration and collaboration in CDI. He also contributes to a bi-monthly column “CDI Insights” for Advance HIM. Finally, Dr. Fee has worked to incorporate advancing technology with data analytics and ongoing physician education through a point of care mobile application, CDocT®.
